Snow Ghosts
Imagine. A photographer, out of body and full of patience. Fingers screaming, gnarled from the bitter cold. Winds thrashing her hair in cracked, caked tendrils, emulating medusa herself. She waits amongst the frosted fields, lens waiting like an ebony asp ready to strike. Eyelashes turn white.
There.
A slow motion blur fills her vision and a thunderous boom tucked between her lungs tries to bang free. Yellow eyes pin the girl like a captured butterfly, forcing her stare and forgetting the lens. A soundless glide peels the wintery air - a poltergeist of the tundra. A ghost on the wing.
The girl slowly turns her head and whispers…
“They’re heeeere”
